"Drip, drip, drip"
Thank you everyone for your hard work this week.
Water has been dripping from the faucet in the bathroom for a while now, and I've been measuring the BPM every time, thinking that it's about time I called a plumber.
From 78, it finally went to 91. This is definitely a phone call case, isn't it?
I'm really not good at this kind of thing.
The only things I'm bad at are buses and filing tax returns.
(In summer, I can walk 40 minutes rather than take the bus.)
Like this, there are many things in my life that I am not good at.
One of them is stir-fry dishes. (Suddenly)
No, I don't know. I've never been good at making stir-fried food. I think the texture is the most important thing, right? But anyway, I'm a worrier, so I want to cook it too much.
I don't trust the phrase "stir-fry quickly" at all.
It feels like it's been fried to the point of sizzling.
Of course it's delicious, it's delicious. It's fine if you're eating it yourself, but it's a bit of a problem if you're serving it to other people.
So, what I want to say is,
That's why stews are the best.
When you cook stews, you put a lot of ingredients in a big pot and the longer you cook them, the tastier they become. I also like the fact that you're "eating the whole time it's simmering."
When I simmer it while listening to my favorite music and reading my favorite book, I feel like the ingredients soak up the passing of time and my feelings, making it taste that much better.
There are even times when you eat it in order to stew it.
I'm sure this is something I only do when I have the time, but people who prepare meals every day might think, "What? I don't have that kind of time!"
Let's digress a little.
When I was taking my university entrance exams, I didn't want to study at all so I took baths about four times a day. The reason for this was that "baths are absolutely necessary, so they take priority over studying! I can't help it!", and I watched anime while taking long baths.
Even when cooking a stew, I turn it into disposable time that nobody (not even myself) can complain about, saying, "I have to do this, and I have to do that, but dinner preparation is absolutely necessary! So it can't be helped!"
Lazy life hacks.
Recently, I made braised pork at home for the first time. Apparently its official name is "Legendary Pork with Green Onions". I found a recipe in Orange Page, so I bought green onions, Shaoxing wine, and pork and stewed them at home for about an hour and a half. (You'll find it if you look it up.)
In the end, it turned out to be absolutely amazingly delicious, but it's definitely not the amount you'd make if you were living alone.
I froze it, but I didn't want to keep it for too long, so I ate it three times over five days.
Eating braised pork this often is definitely too much.
Also, it was cold yesterday, so I wanted to eat some pork soup, so I made it, but...
We made so much that it felt like we were serving food at a soup kitchen.
After all, pork soup is bound to taste better if you make it in large quantities! That's just what my mind tells me.
In fact, it's still in the fridge right now.
That's what I thought at that time.
Ah, I wish I had a friend I could meet up with because I made too much food.
When you go a little bit beyond "one person's share" in your daily life, I think it would be a very happy thing if there was someone who accepted that little bit with a light heart, as if to say, "Lucky me, I did it."
Also, when you've been living alone for a long time, there are days when you don't know what you want to do or talk about, you just want to have a meal with someone.
At times like those, I think how happy it would be to have a friend who would just share my food with me, regardless of age, gender, or relationship.
I want to cherish friends who are genuinely easy to get along with, convenient for both of us, and healthy.
Recently I've been reading a collection of Takano Fumiko's works called "Absolute Safety Razor."
I've always liked Yamada Murasaki, so as I dug deeper I found this piece that caught my eye.
I just love it. It's become a kind of habit.
Maybe next time I'll stew some soup while reading this.
See you next time.
